Dr. Kanchan attended medical school at Seth G.S. Medical College and completed her residency and fellowship at Stanford University. She pursued additional residencies in psychiatry at Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System, Napa State Hospital, and Bergen Pines County Hospital. She has served as director of the OATS program at El Camino Hospital, as well as at the VA in Palo Alto. Dr. Kanchan speaks both English and Hindi.
Karen has been a psychiatrist for nearly 28 years in a broad variety of clinical inpatient and outpatient settings. Her career began with an undergraduate degree in Physiological Psychology from UC Santa Barbara, and she received her M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School of the Medical College of Hampton Roads. She completed her psychiatry residency at UC Davis School of Medicine, her 4th year of which was spent as a Child & Adolescent psychiatry fellow.
I hold fast to the awareness that the human mind/body is inherently capable of creating wellness within it and that this applies to mental health. The role of the physician is to offer the tools and the environment for the patient to develop this wellness; to fortify what is already present, but perhaps hidden.
